Every statement leads you to a room.

An armchair in the entrance hall, a shelf in the reading room, a statement that changes everything: in Sudocrime, you investigate inside the house.

Check the statements and place the suspects in the furnished rooms. Each row and each column holds exactly one person. When all the clues fit, you know who was alone with the victim.

How the floor plan works

Sudocrime in the app: a floor plan with a cloakroom, breakfast room and entrance hall, furnished with armchairs, a sofa, a shelf and plants. Four suspects wait below to be placed.

Read, solve, accuse

Before chapter one, the case file introduces the people and your role. Then every chapter follows the same four steps.

  1. Sudocrime screen showing a scene from chapter 1 of Lindenrain

    Read the case

A chapter opens with a scene, then you read the suspects’ statements. Sudocrime can read them aloud for you.

  2. Sudoku grid in Sudocrime with number bar and hint button

    Solve the sudoku

Every chapter comes with a sudoku. When you get stuck, a hint shows you the next step of reasoning.

  3. Floor plan of a house with rooms and suspects

Place people on the floor plan

Each row and column holds exactly one person, and every statement is true. That tells you who was where.

  4. Evidence wall with snapshots and chapter times

    Name your suspect

Once exactly one person is alone with the victim, you have your suspect. Snapshots and times collect on your evidence wall.

What is a murder sudoku?

A murder sudoku combines a number puzzle with a crime story. You solve a sudoku, then draw conclusions about people: who was in which room and when, and who was alone with the victim? Because every statement is true, you can prove who the culprit is by logic, with no guessing.

Sudocrime keeps the two layers apart. The sudoku follows the classic rules for rows, columns and boxes, and in the stories it earns you a code digit. The floor plan has a similar rule for people: each row and each column holds exactly one. The square left free at the end belongs to the victim.

That makes Sudocrime a good fit for adults who enjoy logic puzzles, murder mystery puzzles and cozy mysteries, and for sudoku players who want a story with their numbers. You investigate like a detective, except that every clue is true and every case can be solved by logic.
