The setup

Saturday, July 14, 1928: Rosalie Lorbeer celebrates her hundredth night as the Countess in “The Countess of Mondsee”. After the encore, the Nightingale of the Odeon intends to speak for herself. But at 9:45 p.m., the curtain rises for Act Two without her: Lorbeer is dead.

Inspector August Riedel closes the doors. You’re writing the Odeon’s anniversary chronicle and know the company. Riedel needs your notes from the day to order the statements of five people who quarreled with the diva. You start with the morning, before the papers condemn the Odeon.

One day in six chapters

  1. 9:30 a.m. A Serenade for the Diva
  2. 11:15 a.m. The Green Moon
  3. 1:30 p.m. Midday Heat
  4. 3:30 p.m. The Veil Curtain
  5. 6:00 p.m. Sold Out
  6. 9:25 p.m. The Hundredth Intermission

How the Nightingale plays

Each chapter has a 6×6 sudoku and its own floor plan of 5×5 or 6×6 squares. Chapter by chapter, a code word takes shape and snapshots fill your evidence wall.

The catalog rates the story 2 out of 5 magnifying glasses, just like Lindenrain. If you’ve solved Lindenrain, you’ll feel right at home.
